Petra Jewellery Designâ„¢ is based in Cape Town and we offer our services to clients both locally and internationally via FedEX.Â
Our jewellery is generally hand-manufactured in gold, palladium, or platinum, as well as wedding bands in titanium. If required we offer CAD rendering and casting in gold, palladium, and platinum.Â
We are happy to remodel old jewellery or use the metal and gemstones to create something new. If the metal cannot be used, then it is credited towards the cost.
Budget and quote
A spending budget is a necessary consideration before enquiring about bespoke jewellery, and it really helps us to quote more effectively if we have a budget to work with. You will receive a detailed e-mail quotation from us to enable you to make an informed decision.
Sourcing of gemstones
Petra makes use of ethically sourced diamonds and precious gemstones, mostly from local suppliers, and we also offer Charles & Colvard Created Moissanite as a gemstone alternative for engagement rings and wedding bands.

Your choice of metals
We create our unique jewellery pieces, engagement rings and diamond wedding rings, using quality precious metals.
Gold
18ct gold is available in white, rose and yellow and we also work in 14ct and 9ct gold.
For hand-manufacture we prefer palladium as an alloy in our white gold which ensures a grey-white colour without any yellow undertone. All white gold jewellery is rhodium coated and the change in colour is less noticeable than on other white gold alloys.
Platinum
Platinum is a naturally white metal which is harder and heavier than gold. Its density and weight make it more durable than other jewellery metals.
Palladium
Palladium is a platinum group metal that is steel-white in colour and it offers similar benefits to platinum, although lighter in weight.
Other metals
New arrivals in the jewellery world are Titanium and Stainless Steel which are popular in the gent’s jewellery market. We manufacture wedding bands in these metals.

Diamonds
Petra Jewellery Designâ„¢ makes use of ethically sourced diamonds from mostly local suppliers.Â
An International Diamond Laboratory Certificate confirms the characteristics unique to your diamond: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. It also guarantees that your diamond is a natural stone from a legitimate source and has not undergone enhancement treatment. Specific emphasis is placed on the diamond’s cut, as perfect proportions unleash the true brilliance and beauty of your stone.
Moissanite
Petra Jewellery Design™ is proud to offer Charles & Colvard Created Moissanite as an alternative to those clients, who want the ‘big diamond look without the big diamond price tag’ or who have ethical conflicts with diamonds.
Its lower price and less exploitative mining practices necessary to obtain it make it a popular alternative to diamonds mainly for engagement rings created in white gold, yellow gold or rose gold, palladium, and platinum. Moissanite can be used on its own or in combination with small diamonds in complementing colours. It is also an excellent choice for earrings and pendant necklaces.
Coloured gemstones
The big four are Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald and Tanzanite which we source from reputable local suppliers. Other popular coloured gemstones include Amethyst, Aquamarine, Citrine, Garnet, Peridot, Tourmaline and Topaz.
Pearls
White, black, grey, gold and other colours are available.
We do not restring pearl necklaces but we can refer you to people who offer that service.
Design and manufacture
We offer advice and guidance with the design of your bespoke jewellery piece. Petra will liaise with the goldsmith or the workshop to oversee the manufacture of your jewellery item.Â
Your finely handcrafted piece of jewellery will be issued with a full valuation certificate which can be used for insurance purposes.
